Jomsburg Collective

The Jomsburg Collective is a veteran owned and operated initiative, with the ultimate goal of creating a sustainable auto/work shop and homestead. The property hopes to someday support and offset tens, hundreds, or even thousands of people in urban areas. Renewable energy collection will be the cornerstone of the project, with indoor/outdoor farming, a comprehensive workshop, and a landscape design/terra forming company all supported by green energy. Additionally, we hope to create a playbook which helps others to do the same, bringing services, jobs, and opportunities to traditionally underserved areas in rural Maine and elsewhere. .

Industry: Green Energy, woodworking, lumber, rope, clothing/sewing, stone, and metal working facilities. Auto shop/Elec vehicle conversion, Elec Heavy Equipment/Landscape Design

Agricultural: Indoor/Outdoor gardening, urban gardening kits, insect farming, traditional livestock

Commercial: Rural convenience/country store with homemade products

Climate Change

Humanity has now nearly recognized the fact that the global climate is changing. The need to react to this change will eventually reach a point of no return, it is time to support new ideas and initiatives which make sustainable urban living a reality. If we continue exploring scientific initiatives, evaluating the data they create, and supporting conservation initiatives we can make the necessary changes. In the same way steam power changed the world in the 17 th century, oil changed it again in the 20 th , yet we are still clinging to 70-year-old technology. Yes, it’s cheaper and the infrastructure exists to use diesel and other harsh fuels, but that gluttony will doom humanity eventually, unless priorities change, and solutions are explored. The State of Maine is just outside the top ten regarding solar energy collection ranking 11 th nationally as of 2016. A surprise due to the lack of population, space, and exposure to sunshine, if one looks to the southwest of the US for example. Germany is the global leader when it comes to solar technology and implementation, so it should surprise you when compared with Maine, Maine receives roughly 35% more sun than on average. The Jomsburg Collective is a green energy agricultural/commercial/industrial project. Environmental conservation and rehabilitation are our secondary concern. We take great pride in our landscape design, focused on forestry and non-invasive plantings, also we are dedicated to invasive species removal. If rural areas can offset urban populations, it will reduce the strain on the environment. It is possible to reduce our reliance upon fossil fuels, but it must start soon, or the planet and people will continue to suffer.

Agricultural

No space will be wasted on the property, every available square meter will be used to maximize production and efficiency. Our garden space will be indoor, outdoor, and vertical, with greenhouses, indoor growing, as well as window gardens. The traditional concept of farming with acres of open space needs to be rethought, indoor produce can be done on several floors of a building to multiply space several times over, and treatments can be customized to maximum our yield for every crop.

Renewable Energy

Solar, wind, and hydraulic energy will be the cornerstones of the Jomsburg Collective. All aspects of the farm will be zero emissions, including all shop machinery and heavy equipment.

Landscape Design/Consultation

Environmental conservation and restoration are the least talked about aspects of climate change, they are not the hot topics such as the melting of the ice caps or plastic in the oceans, but they affect people on all economic levels and in all locations. We want to create spaces that are not only aesthetically beautiful, but consider many factors including erosion, hydrology, and a focus to maximize natural forest and other native plantings. Invasive plant species are also a focus for our company, we will attack them with a variety of plans to most easily and efficiently remove or control them.

Industrial/Office Space to Rent

A primary aspect of the collective will be industrial/office space to use and rent for short- or long-term projects. Empowering local people to follow their dreams without having to organize massive loans, property, or time.

Who We Are

Founder
The founding member of our collective is Erik Dobkowski, he is originally from New Jersey, but has always had family in Maine, visiting the state many times. He even seriously thought about asking to attend some or all high school at Bonny Eagle where his uncle taught math classes. During high school in Clifton, NJ he was the team football teams captain and defensive player of the year. Upon his graduation he worked as an elevator mech. Assistant until his departure to boot camp in the USMC.
Mr. Dobkowski served honorably until January of 2004. Returning to work at the elevator company until 2007. He then began exploring professional cooking of all cultures. From 2013-2018 he attended the University of Southern Maine earning a degree in Geography/Anthropology and a minor in Archaeology.

Mechanic/Welder
Justin Fareel is a veteran of the coast guard and decades of mechanical and welding experience. He has owned over 200 vehicles and does his own repairs on Audi and Volkswagen models.

GIS/Drone Pilot/Data Analysis
Anthony Viola was an honored graduate at The University of Southern Maine graduating in 2016. He has a GIS certificate and runs his own consultation/drone analysis company

IT/Social Media
Mike Reynics has been alive for 38 years.
